Since its renovation in 2008, the Capitol primarily hosts private events and receptions. We are very popular for weddings. We still occasionally host concerts, plays, or movies. The coffee shop and art gallery are always available to the public, as well as tours.
How much does it cost to rent the Capitol?
The costs depend on the type of event and calendar date. Our premier dates are Fridays and Saturdays, and Holidays. We offer discounted weekday specials and promotions for select dates. We host many types of events from casual to formal, and serve many types of food, from snack bars to plated surf & turf. You can use the tools on this website to review our offerings and request a quote, or speak with our Event Director. We highly recommend you let us give you a personal tour.
There are designated loading zones in both the front and rear of the theatre. The front loading area allows stair-free dolly transfer of items into the main theatre room. We have a dolly available.
Downtown Maryville has ample free public parking. There are various lots around the theatre. However, the lot directly across the street in the front always quickly fills up on weekends. There are also garage parking levels beneath this lot, and an elevator. We highly recommend parking in the Harper Street garage which has plenty of spaces that are most always available. Harper Street runs behind the theatre. Turn into the garage entrance on Harper Street. Walk out the main level to Broadway, and make a short walk to your left to the front of the Capitol and our lobby entrance.
What is the occupancy?
Our maximum occupancy is 192 tabled seats, or up to 300 persons for a mixer or rowed seats. For proms or dances, we allow a maximum of 350 persons in the main room. The balcony occupancy is 25.
